What's a PDF file?
Some years ago, the Adobe Corporation (those nice folks who make PhotoShop) came up with a solution to the problem of cross-platform file viewing. Let's say you're interested in a job with an architectural firm. You create a resume in Microsoft Word and email it from your Macintosh to the firm, only to find out they can't open it. Why? Because they're using high-powered UNIX mainframes. UNIX won't read files created on a Macintosh.
